“CSW is deeply saddened by the murder of ten International Assistance Mission (IAM) staff members in northern Afghanistan. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to their loved ones.

The team members were killed by gunmen as they were returning from an eye care mission to Afghans in a remote area of the Badakhshan province. The mission was the latest expression of their commitment to and love for the Afghan people. Those who claimed the killings accused the group of proselytizing. IAM is a Christian organization but firmly denies these accusations.

Please pray for God’s presence to be felt by those now in mourning and for strength and protection for the IAM staff continuing to serve Afghanistan.”
