WHAT CSW IS DOING TO HELP RUSSIA - CSW's primary work in Russia for the last several years has been with the establishment of a pioneering foster care program called "Our Family" which seeks to eventually make obsolete Russia's brutal institutions and orphanages. CSW's ongoing commitment is to monitor this program as it begins to stand on its own - CSW is committed to providing childcare and psychological counseling training the the program. Our donors have supplied funding to establish an occupational therapy room for rehabilitation in severe cases of neglect and/ or abuse. - CSW will continue to research and reveal claims of persecution that may emerge in Russia, so as to advocate on behalf of those who are suffering, in addition to networking with other organizations whose focus is on serving the Christians in this region. - Christians in Russia will continue to be mentioned in our prayer calendar. As we receive updates we will publish them on our website and/or in future issues of Outcry.

You can PRAY - Please pray that the "Our Family" foster care program (or similar programs) would continue to grow and develop, eventually phasing out the brutal institutions and orphanages of old - Pray that the traditional stereotypes and misdiagnoses placed upon orphans and abandoned children (such as "oligophrenic" or mentally retarded) would not be so easily determined, and that children would be more thoroughly examined for a proper diagnosis - Pray that the government would
find a way to provide funding or resources for the Our Family program, and would
eventually find the means and the personnel to appropriately sustain it You can PROTEST If there are claims of religious persecution or violations of human rights featured in any of our reports, these would be appropriate topics to raise with government officials. You might want to research foster care assistance programs or groups with interests in helping underprivileged children, to solicit help for this program and for the general state of childcare in Russia. Write to your
Senator at U.S. Senate, Washington, DC 20510, or your Representative at
U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, DC 20515.
(Call the Capitol Hill Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to find out your
Congressperson’s name). Ask your Congressperson to raise your concerns with
both the Congress and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and to additionally raise
this in appropriate international forums. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice ***For help with letter-writing, please click here
