FEBRUARY 2012

February 1:  Please pray for the congregation of St. George’s Church near Aswan, Egypt, which was set on fire by a mob in late September.  This attack occurred after officially approved renovations led to local tensionsFebruary 2:  Dear God, we pray for the Christians in Aswan, Egypt whose homes were set on fire during the September attack. Protect and strengthen these families who have been terrorized by mobs and vandals.February 3:  Praise God for the way the No Way Out campaign has given a voice to Egyptian Christians.  Ask God to grant wisdom to CSW’s advocacy team as it advocates and educates on behalf of Egypt’s Coptic community.

February 4:  Ask God to protect Coptic communities and churches in Egypt, and to thwart the plans of extremists who seek to do harm. Pray for those who lost loved ones recently, when the military attacked peaceful protests in Cairo.

February 5:  Dear Lord, grant wisdom to Christian leaders in Egypt as they seek to lead, equip and encourage others through this turbulent time. CSW continues to support Egypt’s religious minorities through the No Way Out campaign and calls for Egyptian Christians to be able to practice their faith freely, without fear.

February 6:  Ask God to bless the initiatives being birthed by Egypt’s young people; Christians and Muslims working together to call for freedom for all Egyptians.  We lift our brothers and sisters in Egypt into God’s precious care, knowing that He will be their fortress, comfort and shield in the face of violence and discrimination.

February 7:  Praise God that CSW was able to provide advocacy training to Egyptian Christians last September. Pray for those who received advocacy training, that God would strengthen them as they boldly seek the best for their country.

February 8:  Pray that Egypt’s new government will be built on the principles of justice, equality and freedom for all.  Pray for God to bring forth a just government that prospers all Egyptians.

February 9:  Please pray for dialogue between leaders of different faiths in Egypt. Pray for these leaders to seek common ground and advocate for equal rights for all Egyptians, irrespective of their religious backgrounds.

February 10:  CSW is concerned by the grip that extremism has on the nation of Pakistan, and the impact on religious minorities in particular. We believe through prayer, partnership and advocacy we can help to create a different future for Pakistan.

February 11:  Praise God for the brave individuals and organizations working for peace and justice in Pakistan.  Please pray for their numbers to grow daily, and for strength, protection and unity among them.

February 12:  Pray that God would give a sense of hope among the Christians of Pakistan, equipping them to “run with perseverance the race marked out” for them.

February 13:  Ask God to bless the nation of Pakistan as a whole, pouring out healing, love, forgiveness, hope and joy in abundance.  O Lord, we pray for Christians in Pakistan to be uplifted and inspired with a new, increased level of prayer.

February 14:  Please pray that God would unite His church in Pakistan, overcoming divisions and extending hands of support to those on the margins.  Pray for love and unity among Pakistani Christians who are struggling against persecution.

February 15:  Pray for all in positions of authority, whether in the government, military, intelligence services or religious leaders.  Dear God, we pray You would bless Pakistan with leaders who act with integrity and honor, in the interest of their people.

February 16:  Pray for all those who are currently motivated by hatred or intolerance in Pakistan. May their hearts be changed by God’s Holy Spirit and turned away from actions which bring violence and harm to others.

February 17:  Lord, we pray that You would keep our hearts from being hardened by the stream of bad news from Pakistan; and we pray for Your Holy Spirit to guide us in praying for this nation.

February 18:  Please pray for Christian human rights lawyer, Parvez Choudhry and his family, who have had to leave Pakistan due to serious concerns for their safety. Lord, protect and guide them during this difficult, dangerous time.

February 19:  Pray for the worldwide media to be unbiased and accurate in their reporting of events in Pakistan. Ask God to continue to move hearts around the world to pray for the country of Pakistan.

February 20:  Loving God, we pray for Your continued comfort and strength upon the family of Shahbaz Bhatti, the Christian human rights activist and Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs in Pakistan, who was assassinated in March 2011.

February 21:  Ask God to encourage and strengthen the hearts of Pakistani Muslims who have converted to Christianity.  Lord, give them courage as they live out their faith in difficult, sometimes life-threatening circumstances.

February 22:  Please pray for persecuted Christians around the world who have endured the loss of family members; and those who have been injured or disabled during violence. Dear God, please heal the emotional and physical wounds, and provide for those who are left without breadwinners, or who can no longer work due to disability.

February 23:  Please remember in prayer the millions of people living under brutal oppression around the world, especially those being held in prison camps.  We pray that Your Holy Spirit would comfort and strengthen them in their suffering.

February 24:  We pray for congregations who have lost pastors because they spoke up for Your truth, peace and justice, or refused to close their churches.  Dear Lord, we pray You would give them Your guidance and wisdom to stand firm in their faith.

February 25:  We pray for all those facing persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ, particularly pastors. Dear God, please give them Your divine comfort, protection and guidance. Embolden their calling and give them Your power to accomplish Your work.

February 26:  Please pray for the guards working in prison camps, that God would change their hearts to show mercy to those imprisoned.  Please pray for Christians who have been taken away to prison camps, suffering brutal treatment because of their faith. Dear God, please watch over them and give them strength.

February 27:  Praise God for the thousands of CSW supporters who send cards to victims of persecution and their families, bringing hope and encouragement.

February 28:  Loving God, we thank You that we can find refuge in You, even when we are forsaken by our friends, family and/or society. We pray for those who have fled their homes and countries because of religious persecution.  Please shield them from harm and be their stronghold.

February 29:  Let us lift up before God all those who are unjustly imprisoned for their faith in Jesus, and for standing up for justice and truth.  Many suffer harsh treatment, beatings, and torture.  We pray for their safe release, and that God would give them hope to sustain them through their struggles.
